This sweet dessert is made with milk, rice, jaggery, and cardamom. It’s a delicious way to end your Sri Rama Navami feast.
- 91 cup rice
- 91 cup jaggery, grated
- 94 cups water
- 91/2 cup milk
- 91/4 cup ghee
- 91/4 cup cashews, chopped
- 91/4 cup raisins
- 91 tsp cardamom powder
Wash and rinse the rice. Add water and cook until the rice is done. Mash the rice with a spoon or a potato masher and set aside. In a heavy-bottomed pan, add grated jaggery and 1 cup of water. Heat until the jaggery dissolves. Strain the mixture to remove impurities and set aside. In another pan, heat ghee and fry cashews and raisins until golden brown. Remove from heat and set aside. In the same pan, add the mashed rice, jaggery syrup, milk, and remaining water. Mix well and cook on low heat until the mixture thickens. Add cardamom powder and mix well. Add the fried cashews and raisins and mix well. Serve hot or chilled. This recipe makes 4-6 servings. Adjust the quantity of ingredients to your taste preferences.
